James Troy Braswell of Sweetwater admitted participating in the April 18 Blanket State Bank raid to Brown County officers. He denied firing on Comanche officers and said his partner did the shooting, injuring no one.
A Sunday attendance figure from the Chief area shows about 1000 people. Baptist, Methodist and Presbyterian congregations are listed with varying attendance like 178 for a Baptist group and 248 for another church, while general totals approach 1002.
Kenneth Scott, a Stephenville High School and Texas Christian University graduate, is named new assistant football coach at Comanche High School. He was recommended by head coach Mike Murphy and approved by the school board in Monday’s regular session. Scott previously starred under Murphy at Stephenville and earned grid letters at TCU, plus last year served as Hamilton assistant coach.
The District Rural neighborhood awards will be given at Soda Springs on Thursday night June 16. A basket lunch is scheduled for 6 30 honoring the Stag Creek community. The awards will be presented at 7 30.
Misses Jane Bradley and Nancy Carter, CHS graduates, visit homefolks at Proctor for a few days before returning to Lubbock for summer positions. Both attended Texas Tech last semester and will resume studies there next fall.

The Comanche County Rural Telephone Cooperative let the first construction contract for 322 miles of new lines. Mid-States Construction Company of Dallas bid $156,111.13 to win Section 1. Construction must start by July 1 and finish in 120 working days. A master unit building contract went to Truett Aldridge of Goldthwaite for 3000 dollars. Central Office Equipment goes to Leicht Sales Corporation of Chicago for 14846 dollars. Loans totaling 666000 dollars funded the project for lines exchanges and equipment. Manager C E Webb invites local residents to inquire about service at the Comanche office. Project No 2 planning will start soon.
The U S Department of Agriculture announces June 13 as the final day to release peanut allotments with May 13 previously set. Applications for released acreage are accepted by the County ACS office. An act of Congress granted a 7.5 percent increase to peanut growers.
About 2 000 county 4-H Club delegates and leaders arrive in College Station for the State Round-Up June 8 to 10 with 17 short courses in agriculture and home economics and state contests in 18 subjects. Lucille Moore notes county participation is the largest ever. Dr. George Taylor will attend as honor guest at the Share the Fun Festival on June 9, with a Chuckwagon feed and the 4-H Recognition Banquet also planned.
Mrs Lula Hussey and Mrs Isabell Guinn visit from Oklahoma City for a few days with Mrs Cooper Allen and relatives. George Hanes Hussey and Buddy Batton attend the University of Oklahoma and are 54 lettermen for the Sooners.
Roy Little longtime Comanche County official died June 7 at his home 803 W Wright Ave Comanche after a year of declining health. Funeral Thursday 2 30 p m at First Methodist Church Comanche with interment Oakwood Cemetery. Survived by wife Effie Lauretha and children James Harold Little Mary Lynn Love Ray Little and Paul Little Jr plus five grandchildren and brother Loyd Little.
Franklin Hall the 11 year old son of Mr and Mrs Oliver Hall and a fifth grade student at Comanche Grammar School has been named an honorary deputy sheriff by County Judge Alton Kirkland for aiding in the capture of two suspects in a purse theft from Joyce Jones Courthouse secretary The youths Sherrill and Judith Dacey of Los Angeles were arrested near Stephenville after Franklin identified their car and license number The California pair pled guilty to petty theft in county court were fined 200 dollars plus costs and jailed Meanwhile Young Hall received praise and a monetary remembrance for his role in the arrest The report also notes the late Mr Little a former county official and noted church singer who retired as county treasurer January 1 last year and who had served as deputy tax assessor collector and operated a service station and auto sales business
Ex Comanche Countian and Brownwood native Fess Parker stars in Davy Crockett at the Majestic Theatre. Parker, born August 16 194 in Fort Worth, trained in history and drama, served in the Navy, and has appeared in 17 films and several TV series with Disney.
