Fire Insurance Credit Granted For Comanche
Comanche received a 10 percent fire record credit from the State Fire Insurance Department this month raising its total to 25 percent. The change standardizes credits across cities and applies to policies issued since March 1, 1939. A new rule also allows a penalty up to 25 percent, higher than the former 15 percent.

Merchants Plan Fruit Festival At Retail Merchants Association
At the Retail Merchants Association meeting led by secretary Miss Ruby Keen the group discussed a late summer fruit festival or watermelon slicing. Insect Control Advice For Comanche Cotton Growers
A chamber of commerce issued guidance for combating cotton insects in Comanche County. It recommends starting with sulfur to kill flea larvae on initial squares, then a second application in 7 to 10 days, followed by two arsenic treatments about a week apart. Dr. C. C. Klingman was elected English teacher for Comanche High School for the next term at a board meeting Tuesday night. He serves as pastor of the Central Christian Church at Comanche and Hamilton and will resign that post to move to Comanche. Hilton Burks secretary of the Chamber of Commerce reports daily inquiries about ripening times and prices for Comanche County fruit and watermelons. Truckers and retailers in Texas and other states have contacted him. a telegram from Raton New Mexico dated June 6 requests loading times and pricing. Burks says watermelons should move around July 1 while peaches sell 75 cents to 1 dollar per bushel and plums at 75 cents. no melon price yet. Farmers may list fruit and melons with the Chamber to guide trackers and buyers.

The McCarter Company spadd ed in on the Roberson No 3 in the Amnity field. Roberson says well No 2 is producing satisfactorily and the first well on his father’s place, once a producer, was ruined. Jim Whiteside No 3 Anderson in Lampasas County near Sipe Springs was drilling at 300 feet. Smith No 3 in Amnity field expected to be brought in as a producer Friday.
