Mrs Reed Named New HD Agent for Comanche County
Margie Jane Reed will transfer to the Comanche County Extension Agent role effective July 16. A former 4 H Club member in Willacy and Crockett counties, she earned a B S in Home Economics from Texas Tech. Reed has led youth programs in El Paso County under the Expanded Nutrition Program and will relocate with her daughter Becky in early July.

Clyde Williams opened his new Thrift Mart at 1001 West Central on Monday June 2. The fourth Williams store, purchased from A&P Food Stores, features a refurnished interior and stocked shelves with meats produce canned goods brands and other items.

Dendy Feist Falls in Davis Mountains
Dendy Feist a 12 year old Co manche seventh grader remains unconscious in an El Paso hospital after a 100 foot tumble on a Davis Mountains trail. He suffered skull fracture a broken collar bone tooth loss and other injuries during a weekend hike with his father David Robinson and families.

Property Swap Announced for New School on Highway 16
The May 31 called session of the school board and city council reversed the Cedar Street site plan and chosen a Hiway 16 location for the new high school. Water and sewer lines will be provided by the city, saving about $20,000 with further site and build time savings. The 40 acre parcel fronts 1586 feet along Hiway 16 beginning at Claude Praters shop, with Larry Claycomb as architect and soil samples set for Friday to guide foundation needs.

A van carrying Comanche residents crashed into a utility pole near Downing on State Highway 16. Driver John Bethune 31 sustained multiple injuries and remains in stable condition.
