Soldier Graves Decorated in Memorial Day Ceremony
Oakwood cemetery graves of all soldiers were decorated with flags and flowers Sunday as Memorial Day custom. About twenty five men ten or twelve women and Boy Scouts gathered at 7 am on the square and went to the cemetery. Rev N P Wilkinson gave a memorial address. J B Alborn spoke as Rector Cunningham Post American Legion commander. The American Legion provided flags and flowers arranged under Mrs Tom P Reese Auxiliary president. Boy Scouts aided in placing them.

State Winners Buesto of Honor at Lions Meet
A Comanche County girl and boy won state honors and were guests of honor at a Comanche Lions affair. Virginia Hall of Sidney won first in junior girls declamation rural schools at the State Interscholastic League meet in Austin. C. M. Carraway of Comyn exhibited at the Fat Stud Show in Fort Worth. Guests included parents and Miss Pearl Boya. Violin solos by Otto Schick delighted the crowd, with his 210 year old violin valued around 5000 dollars. The event concluded with a storytelling contest won by George Smith.

A Hebron Sunday band concert drew a large, appreciative crowd despite threatening rain. Weather cut the program short. W. A. Mercer praised the band for its visit on behalf of the Hebron and Creamer communities. Members later enjoyed Eskimo pies and chocolate, arranged by Mrs. J. M. Riordan.

Gas Franchise Progress Aims at Comanche Access
Moore and Patton hold a thirty year gas franchise and have awarded Philips & Fullerton of Breckenridge a contract to lay pipes from the Sipe Springs field to Comanche and into Stephenville and Dublin. Work in Comanche to be finished by September first with gas from the near exhausted field supplying De Leon and then branches to the three towns. The project promises to place Comanche among larger towns for convenience.

Tom H. Jackson of Sipe Springs finished a 51 inch net wire wolf proof fence around his 900 acre sheep and goat ranch. He notes dogs also cannot access the pasture and reveals about six and a half miles of fencing were needed for irregular boundaries at a cost around 225 dollars per mile.
