Double Tragedy Enacted At Progtor Home
A grim scene emerged near Proctor as Zen Barry and his wife were found shot to death in the barn at Zen Barry’s father E S Barry home. An inquest ruled self inflicted death by Barry after shooting his wife but the sheriff disputed that. The couple, aged about 46 and 32, had married only months earlier and Miss May Howell, a Proctor teacher, was their wife. A letter found in Barry’s accounting book was not disclosed. The pistol was borrowed from a brother in law two weeks prior as he planned a trip to west Texas.
