Comanche County Forms American Legion Post in Honor of Rector Cunningham
About 30 ex service men met at the courthouse June 4 1920 to organize an American Legion Post in Comanche County. E P Woodruff chaired the meeting and a charter drive began with signatures while a committee sought the first enlistee from the county and to identify who made the supreme sacrifice Rector Cunningham was found to be the first casualty from Comanche County and the post will be named Rector Cunningham Post. The group invited all who served between April 6 1917 and November 11 1918 to join, pledging 100 percent Americanism and active participation.
