Land Bank Raises Billing Rates on Farm Loans
C Tommy Head, manager of the Federal Land Bank Association of Brownwood, said rates on farm and ranch variable loans rise from 7. to 8.0 percent and rural residence loans from 8.4 to 9 percent, effective August 1, 1974. The Houston Bank originated the plan in 1969 to track money market rates. The Bank cited higher bond costs, with the latest issue averaging 9.21 percent, as the reason for the increase. The Houston Land Bank serves Texas with long term real estate loans and Brownwood's local association covers Brown, Comanche and Mills Counties, led by President Joe Weedon and officers Gail Dudley, J. H. Burton, W. G. Bishop, B. E. Baird, and George P. Burns.
