County Judge H H Lockridge appeals for aluminum donations to support wartime aircraft production. Citizens may drop metal at Comanche City Hall, Lawless Station De Leon, with Boy Scouts and 4 H Clubbers aiding the collection during Aluminumiza Week July 21 to 29. A 19th century item notes no salary for British and German Parliament members. It also mentions G H Boynton selling his interest in The Dublin Telephone to Percy Crews and cites various local notices including a teachers association meeting on April 2, 1892 and marriage licenses issued last Saturday.

McGuire Family Reunion Held at Van Dyke

The John A. McGuire reunion met at Van Dyke on July 15 with small attendance. Morning conversation, noon feast, and an afternoon business session retained all officers led by Walter Pritts as president and Ophelia Woolsey as secretary. Next year’s gathering will be at Lake Banes.

Program notes for a two day Old Settlers Reunion with free grounds, concerts by the Comanche Band, pupil programs from West Ward, pioneer talks, devotional addresses by Mayor House and Rev. Passion Play At Brownwood Next Week

An original Passion Play by Rev. David A. Johnson will be staged in Brownwood on July 29, 30, 31 and August 1 at 8 p.m. The production, directed by Johnson, has Brownwood Ministerial Association backing and aims to present the Last Week of Jesus life strictly from Gospel records without tradition or interpretation.

Old Settlers Reunion Draws Crowds to Lake Eanes Park

Thousands are expected to attend a two day Old Settlers Reunion at Lake Eanes Park starting Thursday. The event features a big carnival, county wide singing led by Owen Wetzel, and a barbecue by D. Cloud. Attendees should bring basket lunches as free dinners are not provided and local eateries prepare for crowds.

Annual Montgomery Reunion At Ranch Begins Saturday

The Montgomery family reunion will be held at the old Montgomery Ranch homestead on July 26 and 27. Host is Joe Montgomery of Fort Stockton with Mr. and Mrs. Larry Kittle hosting from the ranch. The event features a barbecue, a dance platform, and other attractions. Invites extend to all relatives and friends.

Write Point Club Outing at Lake Banes Park

Members of the Write Point Community Club enjoyed a visit to Lake Banes Park last week. Ice cream and cake were served to the losing side of an attendance contest while the victorious group celebrated. The young folks enjoyed swimming and recreation.
