Four Sentenced in District Court in Comanche
Four persons pleaded guilty in 220th District Court Monday afternoon. Geraldine Grace Moore and Della Gillard McCutcheon drew six years each in the Texas Department of Corrections for felony theft of 255 from a Comanche bank and face further charges in Lampasas and Brown counties. Steven Lee Moore received a five year probated term and $1000 fine for burglary of habitation at Lake Nabors after extradition from California. Dallas pleaded guilty to forgery of a $135 check and got three years in TDC.

De Leon High Fire Causes Extensive School Damage
De Leon High School suffered heavy damage in a fire reported at 7:00 pm last Friday. The blaze started in the attic blamed on faulty wiring, damaging three classrooms and the hall. Fire units from De Leon Comanche Dublin Gorman and Rising Star responded as bids for repairs are being received.

Peanut pests raise cornstalk borer counts in Comanche County
Comanche County peanut pest management reports high populations of lesser corn stalk borers across the county. Infestations reach about half the plants in several fields as peanuts begin pegging. Control options include watering in granular baits on irrigated acres or basal directed liquid sprays on dryland peanuts. County Extension Office offers more information.

Prospects brighten for F.M. 3381 linking U S 67 Fort Worth and State 16 De Leon near Comanche. Public meeting set Aug 29 at 3 00 p m in Comanche County Courthouse to discuss the proposed 2 1 mile road extending from State 16 northeast of Comanche High School to U S 16 east of the city. The project is a joint effort of the State Department of Highways and Public Transportation the City of Comanche and Comanche County.
