Comanche County Considers Free County Library Plan

The Texas Library Law framework would empower Comanche County to establish a free county library funded by a county free library fund. Commissioners Court could allocate up to 5 cents per hundred dollars valuation, affecting a taxpayer with a $1500 assessment by about 75 cents annually while offering widespread access to books and periodicals. Projections reference Midland County usage and show low tax cost relative to other West Texas counties.
