WPA Fracas Near Gustine Leads to Multiple Charges
John Odom WPA Supervisor is charged with carrying a pistol without a permit after allegedly drawing a pistol on former workmen at a Highway 36 bridge site near Gustine. Old Settlers Reunion Moves to August 17 at Lake Eanes

Three Convicted In Liquor Trials
Three liquor and beer trials held this week in Comanche County Court brought convictions. R. D. Woods of Comanche was fined 200 dollars for possession of intoxicating liquor for sale. Henry Soward of Comanche was fined 100 dollars for possession of beer for sale. Jeff Owens, County line area between De Leon and Dublin, was convicted for possession of intoxicating liquor for sale and fined 100 dollars. All cases were before Judge R. S. McCharen and a jury. Court adjourned until the next meeting in October. Further liquor cases remain on the docket against Jim Sanford, Mrs. N. L. Cloud, and others against Jeff Owens.

Fire of undetermined origin engulfed the eastern Comanche residence of Mack Phifer early Friday. The elderly couple fled through a window as the house burned, marking Comanche’s first fire loss of the year. Insurance coverage stood at $1500.

Mrs Buck Craig 24 died after drowning in the Leon River near the Ww C Stark pasture while swimming with two other women. The whirlpool was muddy and swift after a recent rain. A rescuer retrieved the body after 30 minutes to an hour in the water. Funeral at Board Church with burial in Board Church Cemetery. On July first a new mid day mail schedule began at the Comanche Post Office. The 11:15 am and 1:05 pm mails are merged to arrive at 11:30 am and depart at 2:30 pm. Parcel post accompanies both inbound and outbound mail. Fort Worth offers Clipper service routes to Marseilles in four days and Southampton in two. air rates to Europe are thirty cents per half ounce.
