Comanche Rodeo Promises Big Three Night Stand

The Comanche rodeo plans three big nights August 7 to 9 with top acts from across the country. Promoters say 5,000 seating capacity, 2,500 extra seats, $1800 added prize money, and acts including Jim Dean, Ruthiman, John Lindsay with Iron Ore, Alec Alexander, and young rodeo talent will draw large crowds.

Production Credit Association to Meet at Tarleton

Revival Begins at Sidney Baptist Church Tonight

Sidney Baptist Church opens a revival meeting Friday July 19 with evening service. Rev Aud Jones of Brownwood preaches and Billy Rudd of Brownwood leads songs. Morning services start at 10 o'clock daily, with prayer meeting at 8 and song services at 8 15. Mr and Mrs John Boswell and sons visited relatives over the weekend.

All Day Gathering at Sipe Springs Cemetery

The Brownwood USC, an outstanding colored softball team, will play the Comanche All-Stars Saturday night at Comanche Ball Park. The German All-Stars beat Brownwood USC in German last week before 2 000 fans. A second game features the Comanche Girl All-Star team versus Desde mona. The Brownwood-Comanche game starts at 8 30 with admission 10 and 25 cents.

Old Settlers Reunion at Lake Eanes Park July 25

Hundreds are expected at Lake Eanes Park three miles south of Comanche on Friday July 25 for the annual Old Settlers Reunion and basket picnic honoring the aged and pioneers of Cawie County. J R Panes says out-of-county visitors will be introduced and allowed a three minute speech.

Lamkin resident C E Anderson dies at home on June 27. Born 1885 in Erath County he was a longtime farmer and community helper, active in the Christian and Lamkin Methodist churches. Funeral held June 28 at Lamkin Methodist Church with Carlton Masonic Lodge at Gentry's Mill Cemetery. Stray 22 Bullet Hits James Brewer In Rising Star

James Grady Brewer eight year old son of Mr and Mrs J S Brewer of Comanche was struck in the leg by a stray .22 rifle bullet while playing in his grandparents yard in Rising Star. The bullet was removed at Brownwood hospital and he returned home the same day. The shooter was not located.
