Plans for Comanche’s seventh annual rodeo August 7 8 9 brighten the city. Belve Bean of the Comanche Roping Club cites top Southwest talent to compete for 1800 added prize money. Parade at 6 30 Thursday features floats bands and riders. New events include a Cowgirls Sponsor Contest and Brahma steer riding with a preview roping match July 23 between Ted Powers and Whit Kinney. Admission 50c adults 25c students.

M O Rea, 55, died Tuesday at Pottsville. Funeral services and interment were held there Wednesday afternoon. He was a cousin of Rea T. Hoff and brother of Mrs. Rea Anderson, a former Coie High School teacher. Rea had been practicing inton.

Four youths injured in Brown County head on crash near Blanket
The Brownwood Bulletin reports two of four youths were hospitalized after a near midnight head on collision on U S Highway 67 inside Brown County east of Blanket. James Robert Boyd 18 Blanket was badly injured. Sidney Morgan 18 Comanche suffered serious scalp and face lacerations. Bobby Thomas 20 Blanket and Elvin Duke 18 Comanche were treated and dismissed. Duke is in the Army Air Forces at Sacramento. Thomas and Boyd were described as seriously injured. Morgan remained in serious condition.

The Barrets build a herd with bloodlines from Wyoming Hereford Ranch and Frazer herd stock and own about 250 registered plus 300 commercial Herefords on about 10 000 acres around Comanche. Dudley Bros Comanche lead in Hereford numbers with 250 registered and 300 commercial cattle and have implemented soil conservation and culling programs to improve quality and reduce erosion on land once part of the Bryson Ranch.

Mrs. J B Loudermilk 63 died at her East Walcott Avenue home July 4 after six years’ illness. Funeral services were held July 8 at Comanche Funeral Home with Minister Clarence Bryant, burial in Downing. She was born September 26 1883 in Mississippi as Leanana Akers and moved to Texas as a child. Survived by husband Bob Loudermilk and six children including Darrell Julia and J B Jr. plus siblings Emmett Will John Ruth and others. Deeply religious Church of Christ member.
