Fordson Converted Into Weevil Exterminator

P K Mackey converts a Fordson tractor into a dusting machine to spray calcium arsenate for weevil control on his farm near once. The device drops poison over each row at night using exhaust and a simple pipe setup. Cost is under a dollar for the attachment and about fifty cents per acre for the chemical. Mackey doubts calcium arsenate is proper protection but would test it if needed.

Boy Scouts Leave Monday For Camp

The Comanche Boy Scouts depart Monday morning for their annual encampment led by Rev. Noel P. Wilkins. The camp will be at Flat Rock Crossing near Reed's Store on Jim Ned Creek, about miles north of Brownwood. About 20 boys will make the trip and stay a week with daily scout craft and recreation hours.

Baptist Revival Begins at Local Church Next Sunday

The revival at the Comanche Baptist Church opens Sunday morning with Rev Whatley of Brownwood preaching. The Sunday School enrolls over 300 with 200 average attendance led by H H Huddleston. The choir and orchestra under Dr Maddox prepare a musical program. A missionary society loyalty meeting follows Monday afternoon at Mrs T J Williams with a 3:30 musical program and a four o'clock children's segment.

Blanton Reviews Record Before Comanche Audience

Hon. Thos L Blanton congressman for this district spoke in the district courtroom in Comanche on a Wednesday at 11 am. The gathering was friendly as Blanton defended his stewardship and outlined his Congress work while noting opposition to any Texas congressman opposing estate tax repeal. Officials predict gas will reach Comanche within twenty days at the latest by August 10 as the gas main trench is dug from the Sipe Springs field toward De Leon. The ditching and laying progress, with many houses already piped, aims to deliver gas well before the September 1 contract deadline.
