A B Brooks 78 died at his daughter Mrs S J Kerley s home Tuesday after illness. Interment was in Oakwood Cemetery Wednesday afternoon with Rev H J Sanders officiating. Pallbearers were Raymond Marshall Trueman McNutt Otis Hoots A J Williford Fred Johnson Will Rush. Brooks born March 1 1861 in Mississippi moved to Texas as a child. He married Ida Shields at 26 and had eleven children, nine grandchildren and twenty five great grandchildren. His wife died February 1 1939 in Rocklin California. He was a member of the Methodist Church.

Uncle Joe Grigsby 86 pioneer farmer of Comanche County died at his Van Dyke home Saturday. Funeral services were held Sunday at Van Dyke. Interment was at Zion Hill Cemetery. Born January 4 1853 in Jasper County he moved to Limestone County about 1876 and married Sarah Killpatrick in 1879. Survived by two sons Willie and Walter two daughters in law seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He was a Methodist steward and a devout Christian.

The Comanche baseball team earned its first shutout of the season by defeating the all-star team from Duster and Bowman 2 to 0 Sunday afternoon.
