Zephyr School House Project Under Way in Brownwood
Construction of a 60000 dollar Zephyr school building and four residences begins as a WPA project. Founding digging started July 1 for a native stone structure including gymnasium auditorium and four classrooms with a second floor utility room. About 40 men employed under Zephyr superintendent J P Guilion and WPA supervisor BE Gleaton. Old Zephyr school torn down after cyclone around 1909.

Gustine Man Dies of Pistol Wounds at Mother's Home
Tom Matthews Jr. 33 years 7 months died from self inflected pistol wounds found at 8:00 p.m. Sunday at his mother's Gustine residence. He had returned recently after illness cancer of the stomach. Funeral services were held Monday at the residence. Interment in Evergreen Cemetery. Survived by mother, three brothers Mack Ray Sam, six sisters Maud Connally Ruby Brantley Jolin Armour Loise McDonald Johnnie Watson and Alice Matthews.

Gustine Girl Dies in Boat Capsize at Lake Dallas
Miss Rosaline Williamson 18 6 24 died Sunday when a boat carrying a picnic party on Lake Dallas capsized. She had attended beauty culture school in Dallas and was a Gustine High School graduate. Funeral services were held at First Baptist Church Gustine with interment in Siloam Cemetery. Survivors include her parents six brothers and one sister.
