Three Youths Arrested For Lamkin Theft
Three youths were arrested Sunday afternoon by Sheriff Wid ivey and charged with burgling the Neel Brothers Store at Lamkin. The burglary occurred Friday night when intruders broke a window and stole shotgun shells and cigarettes. All loot was recovered at arrest and the trio were held. one boy was from Lamkin, the other two from California. Four Lamkin men assisted in the arrest.

Army Demonstration Unit To Visit Goldthwaite
An Army demonstration unit from Fort Sam Houston led by Lt J R Reeves with 65 enlisted men will arrive in Goldthwaite Tuesday July 9 at noon and stay until 3 pm. The march includes a Garand rifle squad 37 mm anti tank gun caliber 30 machine gun and 75 mm guns plus a gas burning field range and two walkie talkies. A martial music band will perform followed by a patriotic speech by Herman Jones of Austin. The event aims to inform young men of military age their parents and friends about Army volunteering opportunities.

Fishing has been good at Lake Eanes according to local sportsmen. William Lane landed a 1442 pound channel cat on Saturday, Curtis Millican caught an 842 pound channel cat on Thursday, and James Wilson tied in with another catfish over six pounds.
