Supt H R Jefferies reports 95 percent finalization of school year plans including four new classrooms at the Elementary School to total six, modernization of the Band Hall into two science rooms, air conditioned Elementary spaces, and a relocated Superintendent's office. Two buses will shuttle students between campuses.

High School Floor Plan Details Approved by Board
The Comanche School Board approves floor plan specifics for a new high school building totaling about 71 000 square feet. The facility will include a 360 seat cafeteria, a 1 400 sq ft stage, a 900 seat gym, two science labs, 11 classrooms, expanded band hall, and an 8 600 volume Resource Center. Brick construction favored with some masonry areas under discussion.

Bicentennial Picnic Draws 2000 at Promontory Park
Mary Wilkerson reports a July 4th county bicentennial picnic at Promontory Park drawing about 2,000. vendors sold many items including 1488 sodas for 372 dollars, 2400 Miss Spirit of 76 tickets, and prizes awarded in a Miss Spirit of 76 contest. Shown were winners in spelling bee and sack races, with rain delaying some events before the Miss Spirit of 76 crowning by Judge Albert Brannan.

Low bidder for Gustine School bonds was Columbian Securities Corp of Texas in Dallas with 6.43038. Other bidders included H Roland Abbot Co Abilene 6.47442 and Paine Webber Jackson Curtis Dallas 6.4923. Bonds approved by Gustine School District voters fund a new elementary building and improvements at existing sites.

Max Harelik Hurt In Two Car Crash Near Lampasas
Max Harelik 31, son of Mr and Mrs Louis Harelik, was seriously injured in a Sunday two car collision about 12 miles south of Lampasas around 4 PM. He was treated at Lampasas hospital then transferred to Scott and White Temple for head injuries and facial and arm cuts.
