Lt. Richard Thomas Now in Philippines
Second Lieutenant Richard E. Thomas of Comanche has arrived in the Philippines and joins the 43rd Bombardment Group of the Fifth Air Force. He serves as copilot with Ken's Men, the first heavy bombardment group in the Southwest Pacific, credited with over 1,000,000 tons of Japanese shipping and the first B 24 unit to operate from liberated Philippine bases. He is a 1942 Jonesboro High School graduate and earned his wings at Greenwood Army Air Field. He has two brothers, Staff Sergeant W. H. Thomas and Corporal C. R. Thomas, with Ground Forces in Europe.
