Bad Weekend At Lake Proctor

A bad weekend at Lake Proctor left one drowning death and multiple injuries. Mary Cook, 1, of Paris France, died after being found submerged near a boat ramp. Virginia Murphree was treated for leg lacerations, Pete Ralston, 8, suffered a broken leg, and Ray Sharp was in critical condition after a diving accident.

Hospital election called to form district in Comanche County

An August 3, 1974 election will decide creating a hospital district for portions of Comanche County. The Temporary Board of Directors called the vote to authorize annual taxes up to 75 cents per $100 valuation to meet bond, indebtedness, maintenance, and operating costs within the district. Polling places include two in Comanche and one each in Sidney, Hasse, Proctor, Hazeldell, and Gustine.

Friends of Harold Williams, a local painting and building contractor, have started a special fund to help cover his medical expenses during cancer treatment. Donations can be made at either bank in Comanche. He is at home and unable to work.
