Suzanne's Fusion owned by Mr and Mrs Jerry Pyburn begins business Monday July 15 on the square's north side. Suzanne Pyburn, the manager, calls it a modern convenient shop for teens and ladies. Opening week visitors may register for door prizes including two pant suits four shapely shirts and two pairs of brushed denim jeans. Registration runs July 15 to 21.
Revival services start Friday July 19 at 7 30 PM at Gartman View Free Will Baptist Church three miles north of Comanche on the De Leon highway. Rev Clarence Hearron of Moore Oklahoma will preach each evening. Church spokesman invites all to attend.
Dorman Hanks a Comanche Mohair dealer and former rancher is elected president of the Comanche Hospital District board. The August 3 1974 election will decide if Pct 1 2 and 3 voters back a new hospital while De Leon area Pct 4 plans a bond to improve their current facility. The board hired SRG Management Consultants of Nashville to study feasibility, and the notice outlines a 7 1/2 cent tax per $100.
The Annual Comanche County 4 H Flower and Tomato Show will be held at De Leon City Hall on Saturday July 13. Entries must be in place by 10:00 a.m. for judging. The show features four divisions and an Artistic Division with three subdivisions. Public viewing runs 12:00 to 3:00 p.m. Judging occurs 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon.
A reader compiles questions about proposed high school expansion including bond timing, site choice, and total cost. Discussion spans site sizes from 12 to 34 acres, feasibility of moving academic spaces, and long rising costs with a rough figure above a million dollars.
Mary Ruth Smith, a Fort Worth transplant, buys the Goodson Mattress Factory renaming it Comanche Mattress Co. at 710 E. Grand. Roy Harvey with 20 years in the trade stays on, while the Smiths, a ranching family with three children, reside at 601 East Grand.
Comanche Independent School District filed 16 delinquent tax suits in District Court seeking more than 9000 in back taxes. State and county shares against seven involve Comanche County and Texas. Tax attorney is Jack McCreary of Austin.
Comanche shows robust growth with numerous building projects. The First United Methodist Church expands an educational building while Western Hills Nursing Home nearly doubles capacity. Powell Supply enlarges, PAR Country Club expands facilities, and Higginbothams estimates about 750000 dollars in active construction.
