Century tale of a near death revival and the Poe device
A bizarre historical tale recounts a man presumed dead in Virginia City revived after burial when a voice was heard in the family vault. Mrs. Le’s later recovery is noted, and the story references a supposed life restoring machine using pumped air and gases. The piece likens experiments to a morphine assisted revival on creatures and hints at scientific controversy.
