Frisco Experts to Demonstrate Pruning and Marketing Talk

Frisco lines expert C B Michaelson from St Louis will attend pruning demonstrations on February 2 in Comanche. He will speak at a 7:30 p m courthouse meeting. Pruning demos are set for Willis Roberson’s orchard near Comanche and T J Williams’ orchard on the De Leon highway with H Short selecting the orchards.

Burglary at J. J. Vareghn Store in Beatty

The J. J. Vareghn store at Beatty was burglarized last Friday night. Thieves cut a hole in the door to remove a bar that fastened it, taking merchandise valued at about 50 dollars. Officers are investigating with no arrests yet.

Bangs man offers to contract for berries and grapes

Grady Martin of Bangs visited Comanche seeking 5 000 crates of berries and 5 000 bushels of grapes for the coming season at 1 10 per crate and 1 25 per bushel with a bond. Cuthbertson cannot contract, having promised his grapes to last season’s customers and potential higher returns by marketing as last year. He sold 2 000 dollars of grapes and 1 000 dollars of berries last year, and Martin’s jams and jellies business explains the bid.

Hog Dairy And Poultry Train To Be Here Feb 6th

Farmers in several communities anticipate the Cotton Belt railroad hog dairy and poultry train visiting Comanche Saturday February 6. One car will be a poultry car with experts lecturing on poultry dairying and animal husbandry. The train runs 10 am to 4 pm with a 2:30 pm depot lecture and invites school children to attend.

Peanuts Sold From Sid ney Farms Share Crops

R I Jones sold to the De Leon peanut factory 5000 bushels at 1 29 per bushel. Crops on Mr Janes farms near Sidney supplied the sale with peanuts from tenants on shares. Kilgore raised 560 bushels of peanuts and 320 bales of hay on Jones land with 125 pounds per acre fertilizer and later acid phosphite top dressing.

Lead Report At Lions Club Meet Discusses Melon and Potato Seed

May evening notes from County Agent Eaton that watermelons can be obtained this year on the same basis as last year. Nugent Durham of the sweet potato committee says seed potato costs range from $2 to $2.50 per bushel and plans exist to bed out a large bed for easy slip access. It is understood H. J. R. Gille will bed out the large bed.

Bakery to Move to North Side Square

The Comanche Bakery will relocate on March 1 to the Old Chief building on the north side of the square. Jake Ki Wang plans extensive improvements, including new brick ovens and additional machinery, at the new location.
