The Mercer Gap area notes strong health and active social life with multiple visits among residents. Local families such as the Fletchers McKenzies Tupins and McKenie Carachet attend church, visit relatives, and host gatherings as A. H. Stevens moves back to Takoda. Church days shift to every third Sunday with Sunday school at 10:30 every Sunday.
Mr. Done Chisholm left Friday for Abilene to visit his sister Mrs A Le Pratt. Mr Add Randall a pioneer citizen of this county died at his home in Comanche and was buried Friday afternoon at Proctor. Rev Wallace conducted the services. Mrs Ora Burton McBinns died after an operation. Funeral services were held at the Baptist church. Mrs B H Lee improves from pneumonia. Mr Williford Bush returned home from De Leon. Mr and Mrs Robert Foster of Bluffdale spent the weekend with her parents. Mr and Mrs Preston Woolsey of Baird visit his parents. C A Smith and son Pontie returned home from De Leon.
The past week brought very disagreeable weather in the county reducing field work and canceling Sunday School at Mt View. Mt View Senior boys remain undefeated in their basketball schedule while junior girls defeated the junior boys in a close contest. New basketball suits accompany both teams. Miss Fannie Luckie and Miss Allie Mae Luckie visited. Lizzie Lou Prazier returned home for the weekend. Mr and Mrs Emmett Jones celebrate the birth of a baby girl.
Mrs D Chas Clarke hosted a Saturday bridge party honoring her daughter James Clark. The home featured pot plants and cut flowers. Mrs C V Caver won high score and a luster mayonnaise set. Prizes included a Geranium pot plant and wedgewood trees for others. Refreshments included pies coffee and salted nuts.
Mrs B Brinkley reports Adlerika eased gas on the stomach and helped both wife and husband, noting improved sleep and relief from bloating. The advertisement claims one spoonful removes gas, clears waste matter, and aids chronic constipation, with William Reese Co. druggists listed.
Comanche Baptist Orchestra plans Sunday worship at 7 p m weather permitting. Prayer and teachers meetings called off for next Wednesday at the Methodist Church for a mass meeting with Pussy foot Johnson and Major E B Ebert. Monthly visitation day Wednesday afternoon and workers council Sunday School Tuesday evening. Senior Y P U U social this week in the church social hall. Fifth Sunday meeting of Comanche Association to be held with Sidney Church. February Workers Conference set for next week at Leon Baptist Church. Paul Case of Brockton Mass advertises a free French remedy for rheumatism and neuritis used during his service in France with the American army. He offers to mail the prescription to any reader who sends an address and a postal card.
The Commissioner's Court invites bids to serve as county depository for all funds including school funds for a two year term. Bids open at 10 a.m. February 14 1927, filed with the county Auditor by 5 p.m. February 12 1927. The court reserves the right to reject any or all bids. A separate note mentions a blacksmith shop opening south of Elkins Tin Shop and patronage.
