Former Comanche Man Injured in Dublin Hospital Accident

Mark Boone a longtime Comanche resident now living in Cherokee was injured in a motor crash near Dublin when a tire blew out. His companions Rev Swope and Mrs Swope were seriously hurt. All four were taken to Dublin hospital for treatment. Boone was en route to Dallas for Homer Bowers funeral.

Three 14-Year-Olds Arrested After Democrat Store Hijack

Three 14 year old Dallas youths robbed A. C. McCurdy's Democrat store in Mills County at rifle point, taking about $118 plus cigarettes and bread. Sheriff Wid Spivey pursued them near Comanche, firing on the fleeing car before the youths abandoned it and surrendered. They were jailed in Comanche and face juvenile court proceedings.

The Comanche Chamber of Commerce asks all to buy meeting tickets by Saturday to help plan refreshments, with tickets also available at the door. In Comanche County, only 1200 poll tax receipts had been issued this week per P A Pettit, Assessor-Collector. Voters must pay by midnight Saturday January 31 to be eligible for the 1942 elections. Adults 21 on January 1 1941 and under 60 then are taxed. fee is $1.75.

Motor Vehicle Stamps Put On Sale In Comanche County

Federal vehicle stamps arrive at Comanche County post offices and go on sale January through February. The $2.09 stamp expires June 30 1942 and a $5 stamp will cover the rest of 1942. Fines up to 1000 dollars for operating without a stamp. About 5500 vehicles subject to the new requirement.
