Comanche Baptists invite attendees to a joint service at First Baptist Church on January 18, 1943 with a devotional by Rev. E B Early and sermons by Rev. Roger Smith Rev. S J Isham and Rev. The church urges a practical Christian faith centered on service and love. Shower 18 Planned for the Johnsons

A miscellaneous shower is set for Thursday night January 21 at the home of Mr and Mrs A E Vineyard to honor Mr and Mrs Kieffer Johnson and Grandma Johnson who lost their home in a fire. County schools met January 2 to plan a county ee tournament for February 19 and 20 with no awards. Perry Moring of Proctor elected director. committee to choose venue and announce it. Entries due February 1. play follows Interscholastic League Rules with a possible executive committee from participating schools.

May Youth Shot To Death In Texas Rural Home

Aubra Mims Smith 17 son of D K Smith shot himself with a .22 rifle in the backyard two miles west of May Texas as despondency over finances followed a request to travel to Brownwood. The youth died about 1:30 pm after emergency efforts failed.

Henson Brothers Capture Wild Hog Near Newburg

Willie Mack and Roy Henson of Newburg with four dogs and two lassos captured a 275 pound wild hog in Hoover Hollow, five miles east of Newburg. The hog tusks cut two dogs badly but the brothers were uninjured. The hog had escaped from Charley Jeske four years ago after several failed recaptures.

Miss Nattie Lou Johnson of Comanche has earned a two year elementary teacher certificate after passing an examination. The change in law allows applicants to take exams at the County Superintendent's office due to teacher shortages.
