W. D. Carleton of Proctor visited The Chief office Tuesday morning and subscribed for two of his sons Captain Bert M. Carleton and First Lieutenant Ramond E. Carleton. Both are overseas and request copies as they serve in the China theater with the American Army Air Forces under General Chenault and in the Pacific theater respectively. Captain Carleton has twice been decorated for bravery.

De Leon Youths Arrested for Theft
De Leon youths W. T. Heflin and J. E. Byer were arrested by Sheriff Perry St. Clair and charged with stealing fruit and vegetables from a vegetable and fruit truck in De Leon Monday night. Authorities recovered oranges turnips tomatoes sweet potatoes cabbage. Heflin paid a $5 fine plus court costs, Byer posted a $400 bond.

Whiskey Found Near Comanche and Lake Eanes
Local officers uncovered twelve half pints and 13 pints of whiskey after a grass fire exposed a tub hidden along the Dublin Highway near Comanche. Sheriff Perry St Clair and Constable Otis Braviel led the find. Additional whiskey, including 47 half pints and 12 pints, was found near a culvert on the road to Lake Eanes on Tuesday afternoon.
