Veterans are reminded they must reinstate National Service Life Insurance by February 1 1947. They can pay two premiums and pick units of 500 up to a minimum of 1000. Joe B. Fry VA contact rep will be at the County Courthouse Wednesdays 9 am to 12 noon. Charles P. Marshall also available on courthouse second floor for service.
Cross Roads Store owner W. T. Coker shared Christmas dinner with his daughter and family at Cross Plains. Various relatives from Abilene Waco Texarkana Clovis and Rule visited. Daniel Vines recovered from a serious car crash enough to return home in Lufkin, with his mother staying ten months. Peanut harvest nears completion. many families gathered for the holidays.
Van Wyke Missionary Baptist Church votes to cooperate with county Baptist churches in a revival from February 9 to February 16. Rev. David Griffin is chosen to preach. Local residents and visiting families from Dub lin Camp Hood Odessa Abilene and Corpus Christi attended church services and visited neighbors.
A large crowd attended the Christmas tree program as Rev. John Tickner delivered a sermon. Numerous families from Comanche, Sidney, and Dallas joined Langley relatives and others for Christmas celebrations at home and in the community.
