Thirty Cars Of Turkeys Shipped By Local Firm

Surteen carloads of dressed turkeys were shipped on the Isthmian market by the Farmers Produce Company, Cromanche, for the season. Sixteen carloads were sent for the Thanksgiving market. The Thanksgiving price averaged sixteen cents per pound, Christmas turkeys about twenty to forty one cents. Approximately 150 workers were lared by the firm during the king season.

Modernway Grocery Sustains Minor Fire Damage

A small fire at Modernway Grocery Saturday caused slight damage with prompt discovery by Andrew Pate and Comanche Valley Fire Department. The heaviest loss was about 10 cartons of cigars at the counter, while the rest of the store remained largely intact. District Clerk and Mrs White announce re election plans this week.

Two Dublin Men Arrested for Failure to Aid

Dublin men Fred Raulston and Alton Canaday were arrested Monday night by Sheriff Wid Snivey and deputies on charges of failure to render aid after a car collision one mile east of Comanche. Mrs. Woods of Ranger was injured when her car rear ended another and overturned. she lost a hand at German hospital. Both men posted $1,000 bonds on Wednesday.

First Class Cook William Gregory Farquhar, 30, formerly of Sidney, rode the U S S Plunger bringing wounded from Manila to San Francisco. He wired his Litney parents that he landed safely and vowed, We will whip the Japs.
