The Comanche Indians, District 8-AA champions, will meet the Crane Stanton bi district playoff winner near Tuesday Feb 24. District 8-AA champions Comanche await a playoff berth as they host Boswell of Tarrant County in a 7:30 p.m. Friday game. Boswell stands 11-1 in district play averaging 71 points, while Comanche averages 61 and allows 43. The Indians, 17-8 overall, recently defeated Cisco 70-45 after a 54-51 district loss. Top Indian scorers include Fletcher 211 points and Shumpes 104 points.
Formal dedication of the $14.7 million Proctor dam and reservoir on the Leon River near Comanche is scheduled for Saturday April 11. Herbert Goodson reports tentative plans include a band, talks by congressmen and Corps of Engineers and Brazos River Authority representatives, with a ticket barbecue after. Contingent timing to be announced.
U S Agricultural advisor Sanford W White of the Bolivian Extension Service in Santa Cruz will present color slides on agriculture 4 H youth work and Bolivian scenery at a district court room Comanche 2 Friday night February 21. He is visiting Comanche County this week meeting with agricultural leaders and Ernesto Arias Costa Rica Visiting County Agent. White has worked for AID seven years and spent over two years in Bolivia. He holds B S and M S degrees in agricultural education from Texas A M University.
Jeff Davis of Dallas spent last week here with his grandparents Rev. and Mrs. Plez Todd, enjoying a family visit in the area.
V Leroy Roach a 23 year old student salesman filed a motion with the State Supreme Court in Austin seeking a writ of mandamus to compel four counties Comanche Brown Coleman and Runnels to place his name on the Democratic primary ballot Roachs candidacy against Ben Barnes of De Leon was rejected for filing method and Roach mailed the petition on the final filing night by regular mail The four county chairs rejected the application and were supported by Frank Erwin in asking the Supreme Court to uphold the action The court told Roach they would act within ten days
A gospel meeting will open Friday evening February 28 at the March of Christ 500 S Pearl St Comenche and continue through Wednesday evening March 4 with services at 7 o clock nightly J T Bristow of Buffalo Wyoming will preach the gospel meeting said Nelson Stark minister of the church
Congressman Omar Burleson and wife Ruth of Anson and Washington D C were visitors for a short while Wednesday afternoon. Burleson seeks re election to his 17th District seat and hopes to wage an active campaign soon based on his congressional duties.
The Comanche Lions Club will celebrate its 40th anniversary Tuesday night February 25 at the Junior High School Lunch Room. Attorney General Waggoner Carr will be principal speaker with Ben Parnes introducing him. Carr's Texas legislative career included five terms in the House and two as Speaker.
Ann Williams named first delegate to Bluebonnet Girls State for 1964. Gail Gleaton named second delegate. both are Comanche High School juniors and National Honor Society members. Alternates are Sandra Prather and Jan Robertson. Bluebonnet Girls State is a 10 day Texas program in Austin for outstanding junior girls, sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary.
Comanche County 4-H adult leader Bill Parker has been selected to represent Extension District 8 at the National 4-H Leaders Forum in Washington DC from April 6 to 11. He joins 12 women and 11 men delegates from Texas districts who will depart College Station on April 2 for orientation at the National 4-H Center before the forum.

Area church hosts the West Fork Association of Free Will Baptists on February 28 29 at Liberty Free Will Baptist Church 504 FL College in Comanche. Meetings begin Friday at 7 00 PM and Saturday morning at 9 00 AM. Everyone is invited to attend.
