SCO Board Reduces Debt In Regular Meeting

At a recent school board session officials reviewed finances and approved reducing outstanding indebtedness by 2000 dollars. County Health Officer Appointed After Resignation

At its regular meeting last Monday the Commissioners Court appointed Dr. J. Q. Lane as county health officer to succeed Dr. A. J. Grey who recently resigned. “Better Than Gold” by local high school students will be staged tonight at the high school auditorium with proceeds aiding the annual.

R Withers has taken the agency of the Singer Sewing Machine Company at Comanche and has assumed charge of the business He will maintain an office on the north side of the square for Singer Machine patrons according to his statement

Bottling Plant To Be Established In Comanche

R. T. Wade of San Angelo will establish a modern bottling works in Comanche open for business about March the Ist. Wade brings bottling experience and will lease and remodel the Tea Plant of Barry Prothers adjoining the railroad tracks to aid shipping. The new industry will add local merchandise already shipped from neighboring towns.

Local Royal Arch Chapter Reconstituted in Comanche

Comanche Chapter No. 147 of Royal Arch Masons is reconstituted after a two year dormancy. At Waco last December the grand convention restored the chapter, and officers were elected led by High Priest John D. Waring with L. B. Russell as King. A framed engraving of King Solomon's Temple was presented by L. B. Russell on behalf of R. E. Camp and N. W. J. Hayon.

PTA Meeting Highlighted by One Act Play at High School

A PTA meeting will be held Friday evening February 25 at 7 20 in the High School auditorium. Mrs C R M Dudley president announces the program includes a one act play by Mrs Romeo Walker Public Speaking class and five minute faculty talks from Miss Minnie Cunningham Mrs J H Huff and W D Jenkins with W H Rowland speaking for the School card.

Death of L E Stockard Rural Editor in Waxahachie

L E Stockard 48 longtime Farm and Ranch field editor in charge of rural school work died at his home in Waxahachie. Born in Tennessee, he moved to Texas in 1920 for health reasons and later joined Farm and Ranch in 1926. He originated the four square school plan and organized community work through schools. Surviving are his wife two daughters a son a brother and his father in Colombia Tennessee. Funeral in Harper Gillespie County.
