Frank Dalton, 97, longtime Quantrell Raiders survivor and Jesse James associate, visited Brownwood to confirm the 1889 death of Jesse James. Dalton identified the body in St Joseph, describing exact marks and the bullet scar, and recalled his own Civil War and later service in multiple armies.

Monon Store Opens in New North Side Location

John A. Mohon moved his department store from the Durham Building to the Dr. A. J. Gray Building on the north side square and opened yesterday. He spent part of the week in Dallas and Fort Worth securing more goods including many critical items and invites friends and the public to visit.

Herbert D. Cloud Claimed By Death

Herbert Daniel Cloud 27, of Comanche, died in an Abilene hospital after a five month illness. Funeral held at Comanche Funeral Home with Rev. Richards and Rev. Smoot. Interment in Oakwood Cemetery. Survivors include wife Dorothy Lavern Vinson, daughter Ione Kay, son Herbert Neel, parents, and multiple siblings. He was born January 1 1919 in Comanche and moved to Abilene a year before his death. He joined the Methodist Church.
