Funeral of Mrs Mary E Jackson Held Here Monday
Mrs Mary E Jackson a longtime Comanche resident died in Waco and her body was brought back for funeral services at Oakwood cemetery. Survived by three sons and two daughters with many relatives present for the services led by Rev J M Wynne and Rev Pen F Hearn.

Sidney Wins County Basketball Championship in Final Contest
The county tournament at De Leon concluded with Sidney defeating De Leon 23 to 19 to claim the county title. Earlier, Sidney advanced after Lamkin was declared ineligible for unpaid entrance fees. De Leon, Hasse, and Lamkin had progressed to the finals with competitive showings. Sidney will represent Comanche county at the district meet in Brownwood this week.

Mrs S F Mason Dies in Mertzon at 96
Mrs. S F Mason, mother of Mrs J Hicks and Mr Davis Mason of Comanche and Mrs Bledsoe of Gustine, died Sunday at her Mertzon Texas home at age 96. Funeral and burial were in Mertzon. She lived in Comanche county for about twenty years, earlier at Old Corn. Relatives from Hicks, Dudley Hicks, Bledson of Gustine joined others in Mertzon during her illness.

Powers Well 10 Valuing At About 400 Feet
Reports from the Powers well indicate drilling at about 400 feet with 120 feet of 15 1 2 inch casing set after a strong water flow was struck at 112 feet. A second water flow was encountered further down and a 12 inch casing is ready to be set. The site lies eight and a half miles from Comanche by air line, ten and a half miles by road, and two and a half miles from Beattie.

Hugh Williams Undergoes Appendicitis Operation in Brownwood
Hugh Williams of Daniel Baker College in Brownwood was operated on for appendicitis Monday afternoon and was reported in serious condition. He rested well Tuesday and Wednesday nights and was doing nicely Thursday morning. His mother Mrs. F Williams has stayed at his bedside with other family visits daily.
