City Amends Ordinance to Ban Out-of-County Sales on Public Square

The city council passed Ordinance 10 to stop selling any article not grown in Comanche County on public streets and the square. Officials stressed the measure protects local merchants while not restricting farmers selling their own produce or items from Comanche County. The ordinance takes effect immediately upon publication.

Rebiothation autos show a yearly registration decline

About 700 fewer automobiles were registered year to date than last year up to February 2. In Comanche County 2400 registrations occurred since the penalty took effect, versus 3100 on the same date last year. Total registrations last year were about 3500. January tax collections fell about 11 percent to roughly $200,000 from $230,000. November and December collections were higher than and after deferment talks in Lewisville.

Bridge bid set for February to cross Brazos at Granbury

The Texas Highway Commission will advertise bids at its February meeting for a $185000 bridge to replace a 50 year old span over the Brazos River at Granbury. Gibb Gilchrist announces the plan as part of widening traffic from Fort Worth to the southwest. Detours on Highway 10 are being planned using nearby routes to avoid the new structure during construction. Other bridge projects on Highway 10 include spans over Paluxy Creek near Bluffdale and Leon River in Comanche County.
