Miss Gertrude Haynes and John S. Palmer were married Thursday evening January 26 in Brownwood at Rev J M Coop ex parsonage. Palmer is a civil engineer with an oil company in Brownwood. They will reside in Brownwood.
Mrs. T. J. Ellis died at her daughter Mrs. Jennie Garretts home in Comanche on Sunday January 29 after months of illness. Funeral services were held Monday at the family residence. Born February 29, 1844 in Cherokee County Alabama she was nearly eighty. She married Thomas Jefferson Ellis in 1862 in the Civil War era. The couple moved to Texas in 1890 settling in Comanche where Mr. Ellis ran a livery stable. Survivors include children Mrs. Jennie Garrett Mrs. Ruth Long Ellis Thomas James and Walter Ellis and several grandchildren. Mr. and Mrs. Ellis were longtime members of the Methodist Church. Miss Josephine Anthony resigned from First State Bank to study at the University of Texas in Austin.
