Sidney Eagles win county basketball title over Comanche Indians

The Sidney High School Eagles won the county interscholastic basketball championship by defeating the Comanche Indians 20 to 5 in the finals. Sidney earlier beat De Leon Beattie and Downing to reach the final and earned points toward the all round championship. The team posted a 23 win 1 loss season record, with crowds growing as weather improved after a rainy start Saturday.

No. 10 Association Holds Meeting in Stephenville

The No. 10 Association met in Stephenville to push hot topping the Brath County road and finalize highway designation through Menard County. Erath County surfacing policy places duty on the State. Girls Tournament Set to Open Tomorrow

After the boys tourney and the flag flying at Sidney High School the county girls teams prepare a two day championship tournament. About twenty teams compete with coaches meeting at 9 30 AM to draw schedules and games starting 10 AM at the ball park. Play continues all day and concludes Monday February 13.

Development of milk plant aims to boost Comanche dairying

At a Friday meeting led by H. Gleason of Hice Ice and Cold Storage, Comanche residents pledged support for expanding dairy production. Gleason said current growth could justify a full plant unit by year end, boosting profits for farmers and expanding demand for local products. Co. P. St. Clair echoed that dairy growth would help move stubborn peanut and Johnson grass hay, unlocking prosperity for the county.

A Comanche committee of businessmen canvassed for Boy Scout funds to join the District Council spanning several counties. The local quota is 750 dollars, with about 450 subscribed and more work to cover the town. The Scouts marked the 18th anniversary with a week of activities including a Good Turn day at home.

Comanche county reports 4 989 poll taxes paid by Feb 1, up 379 from last year and down 477 from two years ago when 5 466 were paid. Largest boxes were No 1 Comanche with 609 votes and No 2 with 532. Other boxes include No 3 938 No 4 54 No 5 66 No 6 271 No 7 105 No 8 82 No 9 131 No 10 69.
