Livestock Show Here Big Success and Grand Champion Named
Bill Lane of Comanche Future Farmers repeated his 1945 triumph by showing the grand champion Hereford steer weighing 1160 pounds in the Junior Livestock Show held Friday in the Sutton Dudley barn. Burnelle Spencer won the reserve with a Shorthorn steer. The 38 calves were the largest entry in show history judged by Roy Largent of Merkel. Other champions included Walter Mazurek in fat barrows Joe Tom Gore in fat lambs and Bobby Carl Simpson in fat capons.

Eleventh Annual Junior Livestock Show figures released
Comanche County show January 25 drew fewer entrants due to cholera scare but more calves were entered than ever. Premiums totaled 470 dollars for 38 calves and about 50 capons. Total show cost ran 750 to 800 dollars with a small balance to building funds and plans for 1947 show. De Leon led prizes, Comyn next, thanks to Gustine De Leon Comanche businesses and citizens.

Dawson Masters Enters District Clerk Race in Comanche

Carl D. Davis, 63, died at his home in the Bible community on Thursday January 25. Interment was at Rock Springs Cemetery with Rev. Charlie Carroll officiating. Born February 25 in Texas, he spent most of his life in Mills and Comanche Counties. He married Mamie Chancellor June 26, 1904, and they had five children, three surviving: Charles Davis, Mrs. Lera Gossett, and Mrs. Cora Ratliff. Also surviving are six brothers and four sisters.

Mrs. Annie Hayes Cox aged 84 known as Aunt Annie died in Comanche at her daughter’s home after a three year illness. Funeral services were held at Meet Mathnadied Church Gustine with Rev. Smoot Rev. Garner and Rev. Whitefield officiating. Interment in Siloam Cemetery. Surviving are six children 22 grandchildren 20 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren plus siblings and 22 more relatives.

Old Majestic Theatre Undergoes Complete Remodeling
The Old Majestic Theatre owned by Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Carter is being rebuilt on the square's west side. Four hundred new seats, a new screen, RCA sound, and a Simplex projector are on order. A brick front may replace glass if deliveries stall. The box office moves to the north corner, a 15 by 36 business booth is added, and Sunday operations will begin with a popcorn machine on site.

Waco Man Placed Under Bond After Lamkin Shooting
I. O. Scott of Waco, about 45, charged with assault with intent to murder after a fight with his father in law Clarence L. Burt of Lamkin. Burt wounded in arm and hip from six shots fired from a 38 caliber pistol. Scott arrested in Gatesville, returned to Comanche, released on $2,000 bond set by Justice of the Peace A. E. Williams. Shooting occurred at the Burt residence two miles northeast of Lamkin amid family trouble.
