T V Burton of Dulles working with the State Highway Department in Comanche county near Blanket was fired on twice with a shotgun by C M Polk. Burton, hit by birdshot, was brought to Central Texas Hospital in Brownwood. Polk said he shot at a thief. No arrests or charges were filed as of today.

Local dressing plant reports nearly half a million dollars in turkey sales this season including breeding stock. Manager Geo C McKenzie notes about $200 000 paid out locally and 25 cars handled averaging 30 000 pounds per car at about 25 cents a pound. County production remains hard to gauge as birds moved to adjacent markets and from neighboring counties.
