T V Burton of Dulles working with the State Highway Department in Comanche county near Blanket was fired on twice with a shotgun by C M Polk. Burton, hit by birdshot, was brought to Central Texas Hospital in Brownwood. Polk said he shot at a thief. No arrests or charges were filed as of today.

Local dressing plant reports nearly half a million dollars in turkey sales this season including breeding stock. Manager Geo C McKenzie notes about $200 000 paid out locally and 25 cars handled averaging 30 000 pounds per car at about 25 cents a pound. County production remains hard to gauge as birds moved to adjacent markets and from neighboring counties. The market likely handled about 50 percent more birds than last year with more turkeys still in county storage awaiting handling.
