Prophesies and Pessimists Across Time and Stock Puzzles
The narrator recounts stories of doomed forecasts from a 1918 armistice joke to a 1930 bankers conclave misdated to 1920, notes Old Mother Shipton and John Law, and cites P. T. Barnum on belief. It argues optimists fare better than prophets, with caution about sensational predictions.

Frogs in Texas and the curious feeding chain tale
A Time correspondence recounts a boyhood pond in Texas with twenty frogs trained to line by size. After feeding, the 20th frog swallows the 19th, continuing as each larger frog consumes the previous, ending with the largest swallowing a wild goose.
