Bill Fritts, convicted of murdering D. W. Hamilton and son Earl, long farmers in Haskell County, was slated for execution by electric chair on Friday morning December 18 unless clemency intervenes. He had four trials and the Court of Criminal Appeals last October overruled a motion from the Kent County case. Judge Clyde Grissom had set the date in November for the December 18 execution.

Comanche High School fell 13 to 0 to Snyder in a hard fought Class B bi district football title game on their home field. The Indians battled a bigger Snyder squad with two 200 pound tackles T Browning and A L Browning stifling drives and forcing key punts. Snyder opened with a fumble recovery and capitalized on a series of long gains to take the lead and added a second quarter score to seal the victory.
Comanche remains a regional title contender after Snyder’s disqualification by the state committee. A regional championship game may be arranged with Stanton. without it no Region No. 2 champion will be declared. Snyder beat Comanche 13 to 0 for the regional title last Friday, prompting a contest filed by Stanton.
FE. L. Wallace, longtime operator near the ice plant, relocated his garage to the O. Bightman building at the northwest corner of the square. The move was completed Friday as Wallace began operating from the new site.
Mr. and Mrs. Julian T. Keith and their children from Fort Worth spent time with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Layne, during the family visit.
President Tom Taylor of Ho ward Payne College spent Sunday in Comanche, meeting local officials and discussing community ties. The visit highlighted campus outreach and regional collaboration.
