Mrs Mary Bray Dies at 80 in Comanche Area
Mrs. Mary Bray 80, mother of Mrs A E Daniel of Comanche and Mrs Edd Duke of Gustine, died December 7 in an Austin hospital after six months of illness. Funeral held December 8 at Comanche Funeral Home with Rev. Walter Scott officiating. Interment in Oakwood Cemetery. Born April 15, 1865 in Burnet County, she married S S Bray, who died at Coleman about 20 years ago. The Bray family lived in Brown County for 35 years, later in Comanche with her daughter. Surviving daughters include Mrs. Daniel, Mrs. Alice O Donnell of California, and a brother D B Belvin of Marble Falls. She was a Baptist church member.

Beatrice Croker 14 Dies After Brief Illness
Beatrice Ruth Croker a Comanche High School freshman died December 9 at home after a brief illness from diabetes. Funeral services were held December 10 at the Comanche Funeral Home with Rev. Sterling Isham and interment at Oakwood Cemetery. She was born November 3, 1931 and is survived by her parents Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Croker and two sisters Nancy Lee and Charlotte Croker. Her mother Ruth Milton is the former daughter of the late Rev. J. E. Milton.

A L Thomas, 67, retired farmer, died December 6 at the B Y Webb home in Comanche where he had been boarding. He had been ill four days. Funeral services and interment were at De Leon with Rev Holden officiating. He was a longtime resident of the Suez community and unmarried. He is survived by two brothers, Henry and R C Thomas of De Leon.

New Pastor Appointed for Brownwood Episcopal Church

Pfc Roy Rains son of Mr and Mrs Roy Rains Sr Comanche returned home after twenty two months with American armed forces in Europe. He served in the 78th Infantry Division with five battle stars and was stationed in Scotland France Belgium Luxembourg Holland and Germany. He plans to pursue further education under the G I Bill.

John Nicholson Opens Law Office
John T. Nicholson, formerly of Rosenburg and Houston, has opened a law office in the Comanche National Bank Building after receiving an honorable discharge from five years of Army service as a first lieutenant in Field Artillery. He studied at Rice Institute and the University of Texas, earned a law degree from South Texas School of Law, and will practice alongside Oscar Callaway while maintaining a separate practice. He previously served as an attorney for Gulf Oil Company in Houston before enlisting in October 1940.
