A L Colcleasure a 86 year old Van Dyke resident died December 2 at the local clinic and hospital after a day of treatment. Funeral services were held at Zion Hill Baptist Church with Rev T N Carter and Rev Gordon Barrett officiating. Interment followed in Zion Hill Cemetery. A retired farmer, he was born September 13 1865 in Arkansas and moved to Texas as a young man and was active in the Van Dyke community and a Baptist church member.

Death claims Comanche lumberman Wade Evridge after long service
Wade Evridge 62 of Comanche a longtime Higginbotham Lumber Yards manager and prominent local businessman died at a Temple hospital after a week of treatment. Funeral services were held at the Comanche Funeral Home with many out of town attendees and interment at Oakwood Cemetery. Surviving are his wife Miss Nelsen Wyatt and four sons I G Evridge Ben Joe and Tom Evridge, plus four sisters and two grandchildren.

Ex-Convict Isham Escapes Jail Again in Comanche County
Ex-convict Bill Isham escaped from the Comanche County jail on Sunday night December 2, using a broken lock on cell shutters and a window drop aided by a blanket. Isham, about 150 pounds, had been jailed for burglary at Joe's Service Station and awaited transfer to the State prison.
