J. H. Huff the jeweler and optician offers special prices on 07 glasses until December 24 then will close for 60 to 80 days for repairs. Children are asked to send letters to Santa Claus to The Chief office by December 20 for printing in a Christmas Edition on December 23.
The Presbyterian Church Auxiliary rejoices at the return of Mrs. Chas. Charke as Auxiliary President while Mrs. Joe Chilton serves in her absence. A Christmas program and tree are planned for December 2 at 7 p.m. with praise and fundraising by dedicated members. Sunday service time shifts to 7 p.m. and the group invites all with no church home to join warmly.
A pastor urges listeners to abandon the rim of life and follow God for purposeful living. He cites a local family example of drifting youth and calls for faith, church connection, and stepping into meaningful adventures under Christ. The message invites individuals to leave circular living and pursue abundant life.
Funeral services for Mrs. Fan n ie Harris Perkins 85 were held at the family residence on Thursday afternoon November 25 with Rev. Ewin Wilson officiating. Survivors include daughter Mrs. M. M. Hitchcock and a large extended family. Out of town attendees listed from Chappel Hill Brenham Dallas Ballinger Sylvester Rotan and Rotan area.
All repair work left with J. H. Huff, jeweler, must be called for before December 24. The shop will close 30 to 60 days for building repairs after that date.
Local families from De Leon and surrounding towns visited relatives across Proctor Madlin and Fort Worth areas. Community members met at the church on Sunday to collect contributions for the Orphans' Home with remarks by several speakers and visitors from Dublin Comyn and Wichita Falls.
A Christmas program will be held at the John Tarleton College Conservatory of Music at 5 p m Sunday December 15 featuring Ye chorus directed by Earl Gough the band performing a selection and the Little Symphony Orchestra under Albert Luper.
Mrs A K Bender of De Leon visits Comanche for a week with her daughter Mrs John A Mahon. Bill Wilson of the U S Army returns to San Antonio after visiting his mother Mrs J I Wilson.
