Lamkin Farmer Bates Woolley Found Dead at Home
Lamkin farmer Bates Woolley about 60 was found dead Sunday afternoon in his residence with a gunshot wound to the stomach. A 410 shotgun with an exploded shell lay nearby. An inquest by Justice Miller returned a verdict of death by gunshot. Funeral services were held at Carlton Cemetery. Woolley survived by his widow, several children, and a brother, W. H. Woolley of Gustine.

A Phillips Killed Near Van Dyke in Accident
H Phillips 45 was killed when a truck struck him while he walked along the highway toward Comanche near the Van Dyke Store. Witnesses placed the truck driver, Dee Woods of San Saba, under bond for failing to stop and render aid. Funeral services were held at Zion Hill Cemetery with Rev. Barrett officiating.
