Northcutt killed in Comanche County traffic accident
John L. Northcutt 50 a Proctor farmer died after being struck by a car driven by three Camp Bowie soldiers on the Fort Worth highway near Proctor. The soldiers said Northcutt stepped into the road too late to avoid impact. Funeral held at Board Church with Rev. R. L. Graham. Survived by widow and many relatives across Texas and Illinois.

Todd Switzer, grandson of Mr and Mrs Sam Switzer of Comanche, has arrived safely in Portland Maine after six months at sea and abroad. The Coast Guard sailor reports European and African ports and says he will not be able to return home for Christmas. Switzer was aboard a U S Coast Guard submarine chaser.

Mrs. Thomas B Booker of Comanche was notified by the War Department that her husband Ted Booker was injured in action November 12 during the invasion of North Africa. The department gave no injury details but said she would be kept informed. Booker, with the Engineers, is the son of Mr and Mrs Thomas B Booker Sr of Sonora.

Comanche Red Cross production chair Mrs. Park Huntington says three Red Cross Kits for service men are missing and must be turned in this weekend. The Comanche Chapter plans to pack 225 kits for soldiers about to embark for overseas duty with items including cigarettes, writing tablet, envelopes, soap, matches, razor blades, pencils, shoe laces, playing cards, needles, thread, safety pins, chewing gum, and a pocket-sized item.
