Local merchants advertise a December 14 shopping day with free gifts and special sale prices on coats, dresses, jewelry, furniture, and heaters. Door prizes include a Puente Co item and other merchandise. event promoted by Mulligan's and various store fronts with discounts on Wal ed items and winter wear.
The Comanche Lions Club invites all to an Aunt Jemima Pancake Supper at the Veterans Building on Friday night starting 5:30 with all you can eat for 50 cents. Tickets sold by Boy Scouts and Lions. proceeds go to the Lions Club Charity Fund.
The Comanche based county clerk and former deputy Miss Claudia Fisher died at 5 35 p m December 1 as the second fatality of a morning explosion at the Fertilizer Plant 2 office. Carroll Anderson, 42, production foreman, also perished in the blast. Allan Towe, 23, survived with minor injuries. The plant resumed full production Saturday. Funeral services for Miss Fisher were held at the First Baptist Church in Comanche.
A district court petit jury is called for Monday December 12 to hear two civil cases. Prospective jurors listed include Roger H Chambers De Leon Ernest L Stanley Rt 2 Comanche Mrs Dean Gardner Rt 3 De Leon and many others across Comanche Dublin Gustine Sipe Springs and nearby towns.
The Church of Christ holds its monthly singing this Sunday afternoon December 11 at 2 30. The event promises better singing with leaders from out of town and the Jubilettes performing several numbers. All welcome to attend.
On Sunday night December 11 the Northwest Baptist Church of Austin choir will perform a Christmas program at First Baptist Church Comanche starting 7:30 PM. The 42 voice choir directed by Ralph Keller travels by chartered bus, with Maree Dogzelt at the organ and Jane Ulrich on piano. Featured numbers include Hear Our Prayer O God O Come All Ye Faithful The Christmas Story The Holy City Silent Night Holy Night and The Choir of Bethlehem.

He advises clear addresses strong packaging and cushioning materials for parcels and recommends using three cent stamps on cards for sealed messages and undelivered card returns. Henry Vines a former Comanche County resident died Sunday December 4 at Baird. Burial was December 5 in Baird. He was a brother of Callie Vines of Comanche and formerly lived in the Sidney community.
A special irrigation meeting is set for Monday afternoon at 2 at the Comanche County Courthouse. Farmers, ranchers, businessmen and other interested parties are invited to share irrigation results, ask questions, and learn about costs and potential yields with local producers.
Comanche Garden Club plans its annual Christmas Pilgrimage for next Thursday night December 15 with the theme Everywhere Everywhere Christmas Tonight. Homes of Mrs Armstrong Cox Mrs Bess Y Hudson and Mrs N A Berrey will be visited. Tickets on sale by club members with 50 cents for adults 25 cents for students. The Presbyterian Church will be decorated for the event which draws many out of town visitors and is a highlight of the year.
Merchants and residents are urged to decorate with a Keep Christ in Christmas theme. Displays will be judged on December 9 with three cash prizes for merchant windows and three prizes for homes, prompting community support.

Sunday School attendance in the Comanche area last Sunday December 4 totaled 252 persons. Two reports follow to The Chief.
On November 17 1955 the Comanche Future Farmers of America held a regular initiation ceremony bringing in 27 new FFA members nicknamed Greenhands. Members must memorize the five verse 262 word FFA Creed and present their planned projects. About 20 fathers attended along with Euell Lightfoot an honorary member. Miss Quay Williams and LaRae Swindle performed musical numbers. Coffee punch and cake followed adjournment.
