Moore Held On Forgery Charge

Byron Moore of Winchell was arrested by Sheriff Wid Spivey and jailed in Comanche awaiting grand jury action on forgery. He allegedly forged a check for 11.25 made out to Hoffman's Dry Goods Store and another forged 6.00 check at 2 Sa Food Store.

Couch Arrested in Gold Watch Theft Case

J. D. Couch Jr was arrested Sunday afternoon by officers at the Comanche jail for theft of a gold watch from J. B. Moody. The watch was recovered during the arrest and Couch is held in Comanche jail.

Pioneer Woman Virginia Hart Lindsey Dies in Comanche

Virginia Hart Lindsey widow of late Judge N R Lindsey died Friday at 3 15 p m in Comanche after a short illness from a fall that broke her hip. Born 18 July 1852 in Mifflin Tennessee she raised in Tukia Mississippi educated at a Florida convent married 28 August 1878 and settled in Comanche. Funeral at Methodist Church Saturday 3 30 led by Rev E M Shepard with burial at Oakwood Cemetery. She supported orphans crippled children and tubercular hospitals and was active in the Daughters of the Confederacy and the Order of Eastern Star.

At a Comanche Lions Club luncheon Mayor John E Hoff announced NYA labor could be drawn for a tabernacle Scout house or similar project at Lake Eanes Park. C F Denny estimated a good tabernacle could cost about three hundred dollars. W Z Compton said the NYA project at the high school nears completion with more than $1100 paid for youth labor on sidewalks tennis courts and landscaping.

City plans sidewalk aid for private property owners

Comanche Fire Department and local Bible class members gather toys for needy children. Santa Claus will visit soon and toys are repaired at the fire station for distribution on Christmas morning. Fire Chief Bob Graham urges residents to donate discarded toys and Lions Club members donate $10 to buy candy fruit and food. a benefit football game is planned to raise more funds.
