Herman Beene Dies Suddenly in Nacogdoches Hospital
Herman Beene of Nacogdoches died Monday afternoon at 5 from pneumonia after a short illness. A 1937 Texas A&M graduate and World War II veteran, he was a former Soil Conservation Service district supervisor and Comanche High School football captain. Survived by wife Barbara Baldwin and four sons Jerald James John, plus his mother and several siblings. Funeral plans were pending in Nacogdoches.

Warren Gossett 29 Killed in Okshoona Accident
Warren Gossett 29 veteran of World War II and former Comanchean, home in Kansas, was fatally injured last week when a heavy road machinery he helped unload ran over him. He died at a Wichita Falls hospital. Funeral services held at Abilene with burial in Novice Cemetery. Survived by wife four children and by his father W F Gossett. The K P Lodge will host a special meeting December 9 with Theo Yarbrough and Clyde Pierce among guests as the county votes on a peanut marketing quota. Peanuts Handled At Comanche Public Scales Near Twelve Million
Through December 1 the Comanche Public Scales reported 11 565 500 pounds of peanuts handled. Public weigher C F Denny says about 90 percent of the crop is harvested and 65 to 70 percent marketed. They expect 18 to 20 million pounds handled this season despite a severe drought and note this crop will fall short of last year's 25 million pounds.

J D B Evans 69 longtime Comanche County resident died November 20 at a local clinic from a blocked heart. Funeral held at Gustine Methodist Church with Rev Pope and Rev S J Isham officiating. He was born March 22 1878 in Ellis County and lived in Macksville before moving to Comanche in 1944. Surviving are his second wife Ola Edinburgh Hayes two stepdaughters and several grandchildren with a brother and sister also noted.
