Humidifiers pose lung risk from bacteria and mold
The Central Texas TB and Respiratory Assn reports certain humidifiers can spread bacteria that inflame lung air sacs when inhaled. Units connected to forced air systems and water air coolers can harbor residual water. Owners should drain and clean humidifiers every two to three weeks. Air freshening additives lack long term testing.
