Comanche County Crop Show and Rodeo Set in late September

Reunion of War Friends From England Visit Oklahoma Trip
Miss Rena Owen spent a weekend in Burkburnett with Mr. and Mrs. Joe Truett Majors marking their first reunion since leaving England in 1945 where all served in the Eighth Air Force. They had attended the Majors wedding in Norwich in September 1944. A Sunday excursion included Lawton Fort Sill Medicine Park and Mt. Scott in the Wichita Mountains.

Albin Horses Enter Llano Show Four Entries From Comanche Rancher
Comanche rancher Earl Albin will enter four prize horses in the Annual Llano Horse Show next weekend. He will show Royal King a 4 year old quarter horse stallion Bunny Babe a winning filly and two 1947 horse colts. The four head will also be entered in the Dallas Fair in October.

Lawrence Plans Dual Meat Packing Plants in Comanche and Harmony
Work is underway to remodel and enlarge the former Central Food Market in Comanche for a large meat packing plant alongside expansion at Harmony. Lawrence, who already operates a modern slaughter and curing facility in Harmony, will run both sites, selling hams, bacon, and processed meats to wholesale buyers across West Texas, the Rio Grande Valley, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and as far as Biloxi Mississippi. Locker reservations are being taken and vaults are expected to be installed within six to eight weeks with a formal opening planned after equipment is installed.
